i'm super-proud that my predictive text

a) at one time didn't have the word 'gumbo,' but now puts 'gumbo' before 'human'
b) reverts to 'oui,' before 'mug'
c) will now say 'cajun,' 'lafayette,' and 'jambalaya' but still won't say 'erin,' 'jared, or 'colleen'

this is top secret information, but....I can't cook rice.
SUCH an important staple to Louisiana cuisine, but in this area, I fail.
I can never remember, is it two parts water, one part rice? the opposite? something totally different?
then came the microwave rice cooker. then 10-minute bag rice.
but now that I live in a house and i can cook and i go grocery shopping, i've seen that albertsons carries rice bagged right in crowley, louisiana....and you know i'm a damn sucker for local products, ESPECIALLY south louisiana products.
so...we'll start out simple with a jamalaya --hopefully sausage, chicken, peppers, onions and spices can mask the taste if something goes wrong

ansuya pictures are up on erinvsparis.blogspot.com

so much has been going on school-wise, I forgot to get excited about the Ansuya workshop!!

We're performing at the dinner show Saturday night ---plaid skirts, rock 'n roll meets tribal kinda thing...dancing to Depeche Mode...
Sunday we're taking a tribal fusion/veil workshop.

other non-school related things that I can be excited about so I can stop talking about only my thesis ever:
-maybe stopping in Zeus downtown Friday night to dance a few with Angela and Misty
-student night at Zeus next Thursday
-Festivals Acadiens coming up in about a month and maybe my parents will come down!

school-related exciting stuff:
-NEW FABULOUS IDEA FOR THE THESIS --it's coming along slowly but splendidly
-maybe finding a Master's Degree program in translating abroad that will only take a year ---hell yeah

other great things:
green tea with pomegranate
kittens everywhere

okay, i hope this doesn't set off anyone's gag reflex, but my new favorite salad of the week is:

fresh spinach leaves
sliced cucumber
dried apple rings
cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, peanuts and dried cranberries (mix from albertson's)
raspberry-pomegranate vinaigrette dressing
